Deputies: Attempted murder suspect shoved victim out of car
Saturday, September 29, 2012

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC - Richland County sheriff's deputies say the suspect in an attempted murder on New Castle Drive shoved the wounded victim out of his car and drove away.

Deputies are skeeing 27-year-old Ceven Michael Barnum on charges of attempted murder pointing and presenting a firearm, and armed robbery.

Deputies say on Aug. 8, the unidentified victim was shot in the upper body while he was in Barnum's car.

Investigator say a second suspect in the car pulled out a gun and demanded the victim give him what he had. The victim gave a gold chain to Barnum, and officials say Barnum shot him, pushed him out of the vehicle, and drove away.

Authorities say Barnum and the second suspect fled the scene in a 1970’s model Pontiac Cutlass, but Barnum has been spotted driving a burgundy Crown Victoria, and a blue small four door compact car.

The victim was transported to Palmetto Health Richland. His condition is not currently known.
