COLUMBIA, SC - Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott hopes the public can help CPD investigators identify and locate three males wanted for questioning in an assault investigation.

Investigators would like to talk with the men to gather additional information on the case.

The assault victim tells CPD Investigators that he and a female were walking home from Five Points shortly after 2 o’clock on the morning of August 19, 2012.

As the couple turned onto the 2200 block of Wheat Street, both individuals say three white males approached them from behind.

The victim says at least one of the men called out to get the victim’s attention.

The victim adds that when he turned around, one of the suspects struck the victim in the face with his fist, knocking him to the ground.

The suspect is further accused of repeatedly hitting the victim in his face.

As a result, the victim suffered severe injuries including a broken nose, cheekbone and black eyes.

The victim was treated at a local hospital and has since been released.

The female who was with the victim tells CPD that she jumped on the suspect’s back to stop the incident but was not successful.

The victims say that the other two suspects stood and watched the assault and did not stop it from happening.

CPD is currently reviewing surveillance video related to the incident.
