4-year-old held at gunpoint in home invasion
ORANGEBURG, SC - Two gunmen reportedly held residents, including several children, of a Gospel Hill Court home at bay while robbing them.
The residents said one of the six people in the house was pistol-whipped and stomped while the gunmen took cash and cell phones.
Orangeburg County Sheriff’s deputies were contacted just after 6 p.m. Sunday by a concerned citizen who saw two black males carrying pistols running across a Gospel Hill Court yard, according to a Sheriff’s Office incident report.
Deputies arrived within a minute but the suspects were gone. A woman standing on a front porch on the 300 block flagged down the officers.
The woman said that two gunmen burst into their front door, one carrying a sawed-off shotgun with pistol grips and the other a handgun. The two ordered the residents in the house to get on the floor.
The gunmen took cash from a nearby counter.
They pointed the weapons at the woman and put the barrel of the pistol up to the cheek of a 4-year-old child, the report said.
Two of the residents managed to run out of the house as the gunmen entered. Another resident told investigators that when he saw what was taking place, he ran to retrieve a weapon. When he returned, the gunmen were gone.
A man familiar with the residents left the home less than two minutes before the gunmen arrived, the report said.
One of the gunmen stood about 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighed around 165. He wore all black, including a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball cap. The second was about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed around 200.
