MORE THAN 100 UNITS OF BLOOD DONATED AT SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT BLOOD DRIVE
Monday, July 23, 2012

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies, employees and citizens donated more than 100 units of blood during a blood drive that the Sheriff’s Department conducted in partnership with the South Carolina chapter of the American Red Cross on Wednesday, July 18 at the Lexington County James R. Metts Law Enforcement Complex, 521 Gibson Road, Lexington.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said a total of 103 units of blood were donated to the American Red Cross during the blood drive. Evidence Clerk Beth Harmon, Master Deputy Chris Lee and Administrative Assistant Crystal Morehouse coordinated the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the blood drive.

Metts encourages citizens to continue to give blood to the American Red Cross.

“The American Red Cross is in need of your help. The Red Cross is experiencing a critical blood shortage across the country,” Metts said. “Patients are depending on you to roll up your sleeves and make an appointment to give blood.”

The Sheriff’s Department regularly conducts blood drives in cooperation with the American Red Cross, Metts said. Since 2006, blood drives that the Sheriff’s Department conducted resulted in the donation of more than 1,103 units of blood to the American Red Cross.

The blood drive reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
