Funny Money: Fake $100 bill passed at Waffle House
Wednesday, July 11, 2012

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is trying to figure out who is responsible for passing “funny money” at a Waffle House.

According to an incident report, on July 3, deputies responded to the Waffle House located at 3939 Sunset Boulevard in reference to recovering a possible counterfeit one hundred dollar bill.

Upon arrival, officers met with an employee who stated that on June 30, around 8:30 p.m., an unknown female entered the restaurant and paid for her meal with a bogus hundred dollar bill, the report stated.

Deputies say the employee was puzzled, on how the woman was able to pass the bill, because it was obviously a fake.

According to the report, the bill did not have any watermarks on it or feel like real money, and it appeared to be photocopied, as the image was blurry.

Deputies say the suspect is described as a heavy build, black woman wearing a white shirt and shorts.

According to the waitress who completed the transaction, the suspect is a regular at the restaurant.
