Report: Couple arrested after woman shocks boyfriend with stun gun
Thursday, June 14, 2012

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - Deputies arrested a Columbia couple after an altercation ensued involving a stun, according to sheriff’s deputies.

According to a Lexington County Sheriff’s Department incident report, officers responded to Stoney Creek Apartments located on Berryhill Road in reference to a domestic assault on June 3.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with 22-year-old Carl Shaw who stated that he and his girlfriend, 25-year-old Bridgett Williams, got into an argument, the report stated.

Deputies say the couple also has a 1-year-old child together.

According to the report, Shaw told deputies that after the argument, the two began pushing each other.

The report stated that during the pushing match, Williams pulled a stun gun out of her pocket and threatened Shaw with it.

Deputies say as Shaw began to walk away, Williams struck him with the stun gun in the rear left thigh, knocking Shaw to the ground for several minutes.

Williams then walked into the bedroom and began packing, the report stated. When Shaw realized what was going on, he got up and proceeded to the bedroom to talk to Williams, according to sheriff’s deputies.

The two began arguing again, the report stated.

Deputies say Shaw grabbed Williams by her arms and threw her into the dresser, breaking the mirror attached to it.

According to the report, Williams fell on the floor amidst the broken glass from the mirror, causing small cuts to her right hand and forearm.

Shaw then took the stun gun, broke it into several pieces, and threw it out the front door, the report stated.

When officers questioned Williams, she relayed a similar story about the altercation, deputies say.

The only exception was that she did not strike Shaw with the stun gun, the report stated. Williams told officers that Shaw walked into the stun gun.

Deputies say when they asked Williams if she had threatened Shaw, she could not give an answer.

According to the report, officers determined that Williams was the primary aggressor because of her lack of explanation for the usage of the stun gun.

In addition, base upon the extended period of time that transpired between the stun gun assault and the assault on Williams, deputies also determined that Shaw was the primary aggressor in the second assault, the report stated.

Both were arrested on a charge of criminal domestic violence.
