Gunman, "You Won't Make it Out of Here Alive Today."
Tuesday, June 5, 2012

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Orangeburg County Deputies arrested a man who shot his girlfriend several times Saturday morning.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says the shooting happened shortly after 7:00am on the 100 block of Alexis Road.

Investigators report that 38-year old Jeffrey Niko Grimes and his girlfriend had an argument that began Friday. The victim left the house but returned to the home later that Friday night.

Sheriff Ravenell says when the victim went to take a shower Saturday morning, Grimes entered the bathroom, shooting the victim until the gun was empty saying, "I promise you, you won't walk out of here alive today."

The victim escaped to a neighbor's house who brought her to the hospital. Although the victim was shot several times she is expected to make a full recovery.

Sheriff Ravenell says, "This is an extremely grave incident that fortunately ended with the victim surviving this terrible ordeal. Our office will be seeking the maximum charges to protect the community from this dangerous individual."

Grimes is charged with Attempted Murder.
