Couple robbed with box cutter during home invasion
Wednesday, June 20, 2012

LEE COUNTY, SC - Deputies are searching for a suspect who robbed a Bishopville couple with a box cutter during a home invasion.

Lee County Sheriff Daniel Simon says deputies responded to a robbery call at a Lee State Park Road residence Monday afternoon.

Upon arrival, officer say the male victim stated while returning home and entering the back of his residence, he was approached from behind by a man armed with a box cutter.

According to Simon, the man’ wife was already inside the home, on the phone.

Deputies say the suspect presented the box cutter and made his demands.

The suspect fled the scene with between $200-300 in cash and the victims' car, Simon says.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Deputies say on Tuesday the couple’s car was located in Hartsville, but no sign of the suspect.

According to Simon, the suspect is described as a black male between 5’07” – 5’08” tall wearing a wool hat.
