Police: Suspects Rob Elderly Couple at Gunpoint
Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police are searching for a man they say robbed an elderly couple at their home.

The incident took place on May 10 around 2 p.m. on Koon Road, which is in northeastern Richland County.

According to officers, 19-year-old John Brandon Foster and two other suspects approached an 87-year-old man outside of his home, then forced their way inside.

Police say the suspect then made death threats to the man's 84-year-old wife, pointed guns at them, and forced them to lie on the ground.

The female victim told police she tried to fight the suspects off with her cane. During the incident, one of the suspects hit the woman on the head with a gun.

The victim was treated and released from a local hospital.

Police say the suspects allegedly stole several items including a wallet and purse, electronics, jewelry, and guns. Several of the stolen goods were recovered at a home on Koon Road and taken into evidence as part of the investigation.

Police say Foster is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on where he may be should call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
