Man stabbed during robbery attempt

Columbia, SC (WIS) - A man is recovering from a stab wound he received during a robbery attempt Monday night.

The man was walking to his girlfriend's apartment near the 7600 block of Garners Ferry Rd. around 9:30 p.m. when he was grabbed from behind, according to a spokesperson with the Richland County Sheriff's Department. A second suspect approached the man from the front.

The spokesperson says the victim was ordered to hand over his belongings and a struggle ensued and one of the suspects stabbed the man in the upper body, according to investigators.

Both suspects ran off and the victim was transported to the hospital.

Descriptions of the suspects have not been released.

There is no word on the victim's injuries.
