Monday, May 14, 2012

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Deputies are searching the area near Fish Hatchery Rd. and Highway 6 for two people who were in a vehicle that fled a traffic stop near a home burglary Monday morning.

According to the Lexington County sheriff's office, while deputies were responding to a burglary on Woodbury Dr. in the West Columbia area, they spotted a car matching the description of a vehicle used in the burglary.

Deputies ran the tag on the car and it came back stolen out of Richland County. When they attempted to stop the car around 9:30 a.m., the driver took off.

The pursuit, which lasted for approximately 24 miles, ended when deputies deployed stop sticks near the intersection of Fish Hatchery Rd. and Highway 6 near Gaston.

Five individuals were in the car and attempted to run when the vehicle was disabled.

According to a spokesperson with the department, three males were apprehended. Deputies are canvassing the area looking for the remaining two male suspects. They have not released a description of the suspects.

If you live in the area, you are urged report any suspicious activity to law enforcement by calling 911.
