3 Indicted in Bomb Threats at Eau Claire High
Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Three people have been indicted in connection with a series of fake bomb threats at Eau Claire High School in Columbia.

The U.S. Attorney's office and the Fifth Circuit Solicitor's office announced the charges Tuesday afternoon against 21-year-old Sidney L. Myers of Eastover and two juveniles.

In the fall of 2011 and in January 2012, school officials at Eau Claire received bomb threats and hoax bomb devices. The threats led to the delayed or cancelled classes at the school.

Myers is charged with making one of the bomb threats. An indictment states that on November 2, 2011, Myers made an anonymous call to Eau Claire.

Investigators also announced that Myers faces a charge of production and possession of child pornography.

He faces a maximum of 10 years for the bomb threat charge, and 15 to 30 years for the child pornography charge.

One of the juvenile suspects is accused of making a telephone bomb threat and making two hoax bomb devices. The other juvenile is charged with giving false information to law enforcement.
