SOLICITOR DAN JOHNSON PRESENTS KERSHAW COUNTY COUNCIL WITH CHECK FOR $16,811.97
Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Columbia, SC – In 2008, Solicitors in South Carolina took mortgage broker Lending Tree to court to prosecute the company for failing to comply with state laws which required LendingTree to make legally required disclosures. After the Solicitors filed action against LendingTree, LendingTree changed its disclosures to comply with South Carolina law. As part of a recent settlement, LendingTree will pay over $3 million statewide in South Carolina. Each county will receive a prorated share based on the number of loans that were closed in each county.

The Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office has received $16,811.97 for Kershaw County and $95,267.84 for Richland County. Solicitor Dan Johnson presented Richland County Council with a check during their Tuesday, March 20TH County Council meeting last month. Solicitor Johnson will present Kershaw County Council with a check for $16,811.97 during today’s 5:30pm council meeting.
