Woman escapes armed ATM robbery with broken fingers, suspect wanted

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC - The Richland County Sheriff ‘s Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted for committing two armed robberies just hours apart.

According to a news release, around 9:48 p.m. deputies responded to an armed robbery call at 743 Hazelwood Road (Hazelwood Party Shop) on March 15.

Deputies say an unknown suspect armed with a gun, approached the victim in the parking lot as he sat in his car. The victim told officers the suspect stole his wallet and fled the scene.

Just hours after the first incident, deputies responded to another armed robbery call around 11:45 p.m. at 7844 Garners Ferry Road (All South Federal Credit Union ATM) on March 15.

The victim told officers that she was withdrawing money from the ATM, when the unknown suspect pointed a gun to her head and grabbed her left hand.

According to deputies, the victim told them she stepped on the gas pedal and sped away from the incident location and went to the hospital because of pain in her hand.

Deputies say the victim suffered two fractured fingers.

According to surveillance video equipment and witness information, the same suspect committed both armed robberies.

The suspect is described as 6’, 140 pounds, last seen wearing a green shirt with bold writing, dark pants, and possibly 18-25 years old.
