Sheriff's Fugitive Task Force arrests 35/clears 47 warrants‏
Tuesday, March 6, 2012

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC - Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced today that the Department’s Fugitive Task Force arrested 35 people and cleared 47 warrants during a warrant sweep in the early morning hours of March 3, 2012.

The Sheriff created the Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force, in January of 2006, for the sole purpose of targeting and apprehending career criminals. During Friday’s warrant sweep, The Fugitive Team arrested and transported to jail offenders wanted on charges ranging from assault, to fail to pay child support, to vandalism and fraudulent checks.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that the Fugitive Task Force combines the expertise of our Deputies with that of other law enforcement agencies like the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the United States Marshal’s Service. The hard work of the Task Force members and partnerships with the other police and sheriff’s departments is how they are able to reach such impressive results.

The Sheriff asks that anyone with information, on the location of any wanted person, should continue to call, email or text your anonymous tip to: Midlands Crimestoppers.

If you, or someone you know, have any information regarding any crime, you are encouraged to contact Crimestoppers. You could earn a reward up to $1,000.
