LUGOFF, SC (WIS) - A Kershaw County investigator had a hunch there could be more victims in the case of a suspected child sex predator from North Carolina. On Thursday, deputies arrested 38-year-old Isaac Flynn after they say he had sex with a 15-year-old Elgin girl earlier this year. "I just felt like there was more to this," Lt. Steve Knafelc said. Knafelc's suspicions proved correct when he found texts between the victim and another young girl stating she was friends with Flynn online. "He was luring these young girls in based on his female persona," Knafelc said. After the fake relationship with the teens was formed, Knafelc said Flynn would start chatting with them using his real identity. Knafelc decided to disguise his identity as well. He became a 14-year-old girl. "I started chatting with Mr. Flynn on the 29th of February and within a day or two, he was already wanting to meet me," Knafelc said. Knafelc says Flynn would always initiate the conversations online and on the phone. Flynn would do most of the chatting that ultimately turned sexual. Knafelc says Flynn even sent pictures. "Very provocative, private pictures that he shouldn't have sent to a 14-year-old," Knafelc said. Last Thursday Knafelc set up a meeting with Flynn at West Wateree Park in Lugoff. The sheriff's department, along with other agencies, tracked the Gastonia man there using a female deputy decoy to lure him. It worked. "He stated he messed up," Knafelc said. Flynn is still in jail and was denied bond on Saturday. Knafelc is now working with the Internet Crimes Against Children to learn more about how to catch a predator.
