Denmark man tried to buy 10 pounds of marijuana, officials say
Tuesday, March 13, 2012

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC - A Denmark man was jailed after allegedly trying to buy 10 pounds of marijuana from a Greenville man, who was also arrested, according to a statement from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday.

Stanford Demetrice Felder, 26, of 17675 Heritage Highway, Denmark, was charged with possessing marijuana, Sheriff James R. Metts said. Felder was being held on Saturday at the county Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.

The incident unfolded around 4 p.m. Friday when K-9 Unit Deputy Adam Clayton stopped two vehicles on Southbound Road near Swansea, Metts said.

Clayton reported that his police dog partner, Gunter, signaled that he detected drugs in one of the vehicles, Metts said. Clayton then opened the vehicle’s rear hatch door and the dog immediately approached a black nylon suitcase, which contained 10 pounds of a substance believed to be marijuana that was packaged in plastic bags.

Deputies then arrested the driver of the vehicle, Qureshi Kenta Dowling, 32, of 409 Crosby Circle, Greenville, on a charge of trafficking in marijuana. Dowling was being held on Saturday at the county Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.

The sheriff said his deputies determined that Dowling had made arrangements to sell the 10 pounds of marijuana to Felder.

Deputies seized the presumed drugs, which they valued at $16,000, as well as $6,000 in cash.
