West Columbia Seeks Assistance in Locating Suspect
Tuesday, January 24, 2012

West Columbia, S.C. – The West Columbia Police Department is requesting the assistance of the community in locating a suspect in a strong armed robbery case. According to Chief Dennis Tyndall, a warrant has been issued for Eddie Leroy Cokley, age 48, of 1149 Allen Street, Cayce. Tyndall stated that he has information that Cokley may be in the South Congaree area of Lexington County. Cokley is a black male and is approximately 5’4” and weighs about 135 lbs.

Chief Tyndall said that the incident took place on November 25, 2011 at Ozzie’s Country Island bar located at 1420 Charleston Highway in West Columbia. The victim, Glenn Strosnider, age 74, of Wagener, S.C. was leaving the bar at approximately 11:30 p.m. As he headed to his car, he was “jumped” by the suspect and they both fell to the ground. The suspect stole the victim’s wallet and fled on foot. The victim was not injured in the assault. Investigators were able to recover a cell phone and a ring at the scene that they were able to link to Mr. Cokley.

Police are asking that anyone with information concerning this case or the suspect’s whereabouts contact the West Columbia Police Department at 803-794-0721.
