WEST COLUMBIA, SC - The West Columbia Police Department is trying to locate a woman they say might be involved in a stolen vehicle case.

Police say around 2 a.m., the victim ran out of gas on Morningside Drive in the city of West Columbia on January 5.

The victim told police that he left on foot to go get gas and when he returned, his vehicle had been stolen.

The vehicle is a 1998 blue Chevrolet Blazer.

According to police, the vehicle was later recovered at CMC Recycling in Lexington.

The suspect who sold the vehicle to CMC presented a driver’s license that did not belong to her and was captured on surveillance camera.

Investigators say the woman was carrying a distinctive purse made out of a license plate.
