Police looking for "armed and dangerous" pizza delivery driver robbers
Tuesday, January 31, 2012

SUMTER, SC - The Sumter Police Department is requesting assistance in identifying the people responsible for the robbery of a pizza delivery driver on Saturday night.

Police said the driver was ambushed by three people while trying to deliver a pizza on Love St. Investigators said one person talked with the driver as two other armed and masked individuals approached the driver and demanded money.

The two men wore blue bandanas covering their faces and are described by police as approximately 6’ 00” tall, one having medium to longer dreads and the other having a low hairstyle. The person who talked to the driver is depicted in a sketch released by police.

This is the second Love Street robbery of a pizza delivery driver this month. The first incident occurred on January 8 around 10:00 p.m. During this robbery, three men assaulted the delivery driver with their fists, robbing him of his money and of the pizza he was attempting to deliver to an unknown caller. All three men were described as being teens or in their early 20's, with a medium build, and wearing dark clothing.

Police believe that both incidents are related, and all subjects involved should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about the robberies is urged to call the Sumter Police Department or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Callers may remain anonymous, and CRIME STOPPERS offers rewards up to $2,500.00.
