LEXINGTON, SC - Lexington County Sheriff’s Department code enforcement officers, resident deputies and school resource officers in partnership with Wal-Mart will take seven children from the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter shopping for Christmas gifts at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 17 at a Wal-Mart Supercenter at 1780 South Lake Drive near Lexington.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies will help each of the seven children select toys, clothing and other items that the children want to buy as Christmas presents. The Sheriff’s Department annually conducts a Shop With a Cop event at the Wal-Mart Supercenter.

At 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, officers with the Sheriff’s Department and Batesburg-Leesville Police Department in partnership with Wal-Mart also will take 10 children shopping for Christmas presents at a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Batesburg-Leesville, Metts said. The Sheriff’s Department and Batesburg-Leesville Police Department annually conduct a Shop With a Cop event at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Batesburg-Leesville.

Shop With a Cop reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
