West Columbia Arrest in Fatal Hit and Run

West Columbia, S.C. – On November 5, 2011 the West Columbia Police Department had a traffic fatality that occurred during the early morning hours on N.12th Street. It appeared that a vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking northbound on the sidewalk. The vehicle then left the scene.

The individual who was struck by the vehicle was identified by Coroner Harry O. Harmon of the Lexington County Coroner’s Office as Dennis Keith Barfield, 53, of West Columbia.

Police later located the vehicle of Diedreich Adam Jackson, 29, of 257 Hunter’s Mill Drive in West Columbia. Mr. Jackson is in custody at this time for Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Death and Reckless Homicide. He is currently at the Lexington County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
