Sheriff: Midlands woman kidnapped outside ATM found in NC
Monday, October 17, 2011

CAMDEN, SC (WIS) - Camden Police have taken over the investigation of a woman who was kidnapped at a Mayplant Credit Union Saturday morning.

According to Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews, the woman called her grandmother saying she had been kidnapped. That's when her phone went dead.

Kershaw County put out an alert to North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.

Matthews says troopers in North Carolina found the vehicle and the victim at a rest stop on Interstate 40, but the suspect got away.

Matthews said the woman previously filed police report for harassment against the suspect. There's no word on her condition.
