RICHLAND COUNTY, SC - Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced today that Live Oaks Sporting Club (1201 Redmond Mill Road, Swansea, SC 29160) will be hosting a shooting competition to benefit S.T.A.R.R. Team.

The Sheriff stated that the event will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 9:00 AM and will include a 50 round shooting course competition and a 25 round pistol competition. The cost will be $50 (ammo not included) per person to participate in the sporting clay competition and $20 (ammo not included) for the pistol course competition.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that S.T.A.R.R. stands for Search Tactics and Rescue Recovery. The organization was founded in 1994 and is a non-profit group of 54 volunteers who assist public safety (at no cost) in searches for the lost or missing. S.T.A.R.R. is in nearly every county in South Carolina and has conducted searches in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana, Louisiana, and Ohio. S.T.A.R.R. is able to assist law enforcement by helping them with highly trained searchers, boats, ATV's, horses, side and bottom scan sonar, underwater cameras, and many more types of equipment.

Sheriff Leon Lott added that S.T.A.R.R. equipment will be on site, for display, on October 29 and they will conduct several demos with their S.T.A.R.R. K-9’s.
