West Columbia Police Seize 20 pounds of marijuana, Arrest Two on Drug Charges

West Columbia, S.C. – The West Columbia Police Department has charged two men with drug charges from an incident that occurred at 111 Abberly Village in the city.

According to Chief Dennis Tyndall, officers responded to a possible burglary in progress on Monday at approximately 3 p.m. They observed a subject exiting the apartment. After detaining the individual, they were able to locate 20 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle. The individual arrested was Clarence Demond Benjamin, age 30, of 611 Cranbrook Drive in Holly Hill, S.C. He has been charged with Trafficking Marijuana. The investigation revealed that Benjamin is a cousin of the homeowner.

Investigators also found a smaller quantity of marijuana in the apartment. The resident, John Curtis Robinson, Jr., age 23, was charged with Simple Possession of Marijuana. Chief Dennis Tyndall stated that he credited the work of his investigators with getting the large quantity of marijuana off the streets.
