Standoff with Suspect in Orangeburg Ends
Thursday, September 29, 2011

Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) - A standoff with a suspect in the city of Orangeburg is now over.

The incident began around 12 p.m. Wednesday, according to officers.

Police say they were in pursuit of 36-year-old Calvin Earl Snell, who they say was wanted on several charges. At some point during the pursuit, Snell pulled over and got out of his vehicle.

Officers say Snell kicked in the back door of a home on Fairfield Street and had not come back outside. Officers say he then barricaded himself inside for about two hours.

Police say Snell was later taken into custody after officers used chemicals to force him from the building.
