Burglars filling bags with swag

ORANGEBURG, SC - A North Road woman reported $4,000 in cash taken during a burglary at her home Wednesday afternoon, according to a Sheriff's Office incident report.

The woman said she returned home around 4 p.m. and noticed a rear window open. Closer inspection revealed a TV had been moved.

After searching her residence, the woman said $4,000 in cash was missing. The woman's husband told deputies the money had either been in one hiding place or another. He couldn't remember which one he last placed the money in.

Deputies did not find any signs of forced entry into the home.

In other reports:

* A Lands End man reported an $1,100 TV stolen during a break-in at his house early Thursday.

The man told deputies he left his home around 3 p.m. on Wednesday. When he returned around 4:25 a.m. Thursday, he discovered someone had gained entry into the home via the front door.

A Sony 42-inch flat-screen TV, clothing items and computer hardware totalling $3,200 were missing.

* An alarm company alerted deputies to a burglary in progress at a Bair Road home Wednesday.

An alarm went off at the residence sometime around 10:30 a.m. As deputies arrived, they saw where someone had forced their way into the home. Deputies checked, but no one was inside.

The woman said a $2,500 diamond engagement ring and a $600 Vizio 42-inch flat-screen TV were missing.
