Thursday, August 4, 2011

SUMTER, SC (WIS) - Police found a body inside a car Wednesday night outside an apartment complex in Sumter. Detectives said the investigation started out as a call about a missing person.

Sumter police said they got a call around 5:30 p.m. from family members about a man who had been missing for a day.

After driving around looking for their loved one, police say the family found the missing person's car at an apartment complex on Gion Street in the Mallwood community.

When police looked inside the car, they found a body inside the trunk of a 2003 burgundy Nissan Altima. So far, police are not sure if it is the missing person's body.

Police ask you to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC if you have information about this incident.
