Deputies: Man Robbed by Cousin, Men with Shotguns
Thursday, August 18, 2011

Sumter County, SC (WLTX) -- Imagine hearing a knock at your hotel room door, and looking outside to see your cousin. When you open the door, you're greeted by two men pointing double-barreled shotguns at you.

That's what deputies say happened to a 23-year-old victim in Lynchburg Monday night.

Sumter County deputies received a call at about 8 p.m. from the Relax Inn Motel on Lynches River Road in Lynchburg, where they say three people--22-year-old Fredreshia McCallum of Pope Street in Turbeville, Damarcus Antwain Keels, and Anthony Conelia Graham--robbed the victim and his girlfriend.

Investigators say the victim heard a knock on his door, looked through the door's peephole and recognized his cousin, McCallum, waiting outside. When he opened the door, deputies say Keels and Graham were standing there wearing black ski masks, pointing shotguns at his face.

At that point, deputies say McCallum sat on the floor behind the door, covering her face.

Startled, deputies say the victim backed up, and fell over a hotel bed onto the floor. That's when one of the gunmen put a shotgun in his face, and the male suspects tied the victim's hands and feet with duct tape.

The victim's girlfriend, who was sleeping in one of the beds, began to move, when one of the gunmen said they would shoot her, deputies say. That's when deputies say they tied the female victim's hands and feet, took both victims into the room's bathroom, and put them in the bath tub.

The victims told deputies that they heard the door open and close twice, and they waited for the room to quiet. When they untied each other and walked out of the bathroom, almost $2,000 in cash, the couple's cell phones, a PS3 and a DVD were gone.

When deputies arrived, the victim told deputies that his cousin, McCallum, had helped the gunmen. Once deputies arrived to her home on Rush Street in Lynchburg, and conducted a traffic stop on her, they found the victim's PS3 in her silver Impala's trunk. Inside the PS3 was a DVD that matched a DVD cover left inside the Relax Inn room, deputies say.

After the robbery, deputies say McCallum dropped Graham and Keels off on Rush Street.

If you can help investigators find Graham and Keels, you are urged to call CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at 1-888-CRIME-SC or text a tip to "CRIMES" beginning with the term "TIPSC."
