Columbia Firefighter Facing Arson Charge

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A Columbia firefighter has been charged with intentionally causing a fire.

Pierre Daye, 38, has been charged with arson third degree.

An arrest warrant states that on August 20, Daye helped set fire to a home on Abbington Road in Columbia.

Chief Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins stated that Daye was served Wednesday with an arrest warrant at fire headquarters. Jenkins said Daye was immediately placed on investigatory suspension without pay.

Daye has been employed with the department since September 1998.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
