3 Women Arrested After Kids Found in Filth
Tuesday, August 2, 2011

Spartanburg, SC (AP) -- Three Spartanburg County women have been charged with cruelty to children after five youngsters were found living in a home infested with roaches and with little food.

The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported the charges against the women in Una were filed by sheriff's deputies after they received a call from a concerned citizen.

Twenty-seven-year-old Wendy M. Massey is charged with three counts of cruelty to children. Nineteen-year-old Holly Marie Massey and 33-year-old Crystal Sanabria are each charged with one count of cruelty to children.

A sheriff's report states that the children's bedrooms had trash on the floor, clothing everywhere and roaches crawling on the walls.

The children have been placed in protective custody.

It wasn't clear if the women have lawyers.
