Update on the Theft from the Ridgecrest Memorial Park

Batesburg-Leesville, SC – The Batesburg-Leesville Police Department has made two arrests in connection with the theft of bronze vases from Ridgecrest Memorial Park in Batesburg-Leesville in June.

On Wednesday, July 6th, Officers of the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department arrested William K. Carr and Paula M. Vetta, both of Vance, SC, in connection with the theft of bronze vases from the Ridgecrest Memorial Park in Batesburg-Leesville last month. Both Carr and Vetta are charged with Grand Larceny and Vandalization of Human Burial Grounds, they are currently being held with a $30,000 surety bond at the Lexington County Detention Center.

The arrests in the case are the result of an extensive investigation conducted by Officers of the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department. Investigative assistance was provided by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, and the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Department.
