Suspect Accused of Shooting Man After Harassing Females
Friday, July 15, 2011

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Police are searching for a male suspect they say shot another man after the suspect had made vulgar remarks to three females.

Investigators are working to determine the suspect's identity, and they are asking for the public's help.

Columbia Police Department investigators say the attempted murder suspect featured in the sketch was riding in a vehicle that police believe was a tan or brown four-door Nissan Maxima on Monday night before 10 p.m.

Deputies say the suspect and the driver, each described as men in their mid-20s, stopped the vehicle by a 20-year-old man and three females walking in the 4800 block of Monticello Road in the Eau Claire community.

At that point, investigators say the victim and the suspect "exchanged words," and then the suspect opened fire on the man, hitting the victim in the upper leg.

The females were not harmed, officers say.

Investigators say the shooter had tattoos, a "low-cut" hairstyle, and at least three lines cut in both eyebrows. The driver is described as having a medium build. If you can help investigators find the suspects, you are urged to call CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at 1-888-CRIME-SC or text a tip to "CRIMES" beginning with the term "TIPSC."
