Mother and baby die in Alabaster stabbing
Friday, July 15, 2011

ALABASTER, SC (WCSC)- A female adult and her 10-month-old baby girl have both died from wounds inflicted during a stabbing attack at an Alabaster motel.

Alabaster police have a 34-year-old male in custody, but have not yet released his identity.

Three people, a black man, woman and female infant, were involved in the incident which occurred around 11 a.m. at the Shelby Motor Lodge in Alabaster. Authorities say they do not know the relationship between the mother and baby and the male.

Alabaster police responded to the scene at the motel on 1st Street North in Alabster around 11 a.m. after receiving a call that a male with blood on his shirt was outside one of the rooms, said Deputy Chief Curtis Rigby.

The female was transported by LifeSaver helicopter services to a local hospital. The male victim is also being treated for his injuries at a local hospital.
