Man robs Dollar General with butcher knife
Tuesday, July 19, 2011

CAMDEN, SC (WIS) - Kershaw County investigators looking for a man who walked into a dollar store with a butcher knife demanding cash.

"I think it's crazy," said Dawn Bradley, who lives with her husband Robert near the Dollar General on Jefferson Davis Highway in Camden. "This is my favorite Dollar General. This is right here at my house. I don't want to go across town to go to the Dollar General. I just told him I hope nobody gets crazy and robs this place while I'm here."

"I'm glad nobody got hurt," said Sheriff Jim Matthews. "You never know, in a situation like this, what a man will do."

Matthews says the man pretended to be shopping at the store. When he approached the cash register with his items, he told the cashier he needed to get his wallet from his car. When he came back, he had a butcher knife in his hand and was demanding cash.

"We don't know what his motives were," said Matthews. "It would be helpful to everybody if he would just turn himself in."

Dawn will be able to shop a little easier knowing the person responsible pays for what he did. "If we can get up and go to work everyday, then whoever it is just needs to get a job," she said.

Investigators don't know if the person ran away or drove away, so they need your help. If you have any information, call 1-888-CRIME-SC.
