Man Beaten to Death with Wine Bottle, 3rd Man Arrested
Tuesday, July 5, 2011

Lexington County, SC (WLTX) -- Deputies arrested a 26-year-old man Monday in connection with the June 26 beating death of a 45-year-old at a home on Jakes Landing Road near Lexington.

Investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department say Timothy Edward Tice was killed during a robbery at his home when someone beat him on his head with a wine bottle.

Deputies arrested 26-year-old Kenneth Darrell Walters of Washington Street in Columbia and charged him with murder after arresting him before 4 p.m. Monday.

Detectives had already arrested 26-year-old Margaret Marie Driggers of Corbett Street in Columbia and 28-year-old Demetriss Alshawn Glenn of Dudley Road in West Columbia and charged them each with murder. Driggers was also charged with misprision of a felony.

Investigators say the three suspects went to Tice's home with the intent to rob him. Deputies say after the suspects entered Tice's home, they became involved in a physical struggle. That's when Tice was hit on the head with a wine bottle. Pieces of the bottle were later found by deputies.

Each suspect is being held at the Lexington County jail awaiting a bond hearing.
