Man arrested for exposing himself at park
Wednesday, July 13, 2011

SUMTER, SC - Sumter Police arrested a man they say exposed himself to patrons in a Park.

On July 7 police were dispatched to a complaint in reference to a male exposing himself in front of people at Dillon Park, according to a police report.

One of the victims who witnessed the exposure was a 13-year-old female.

When police arrived to the call they observed the suspect’s Red Mustang with tinted windows fleeing the scene in the area of Pike and 521.

Police say they followed the vehicle and then initiated a traffic stop.

During the traffic stop, the male was identified as Thomas Wooten and admitted to the officers that he was in fact coming from the Dillon Park Area.

After further investigation and witness confirmation, Wooten was arrested and charged for Indecent Exposure and transported to the Sumter Lee Regional Detention Center.

After further investigation, detectives were able to connect Wooten to another incident that happened earlier this year where they say he flashed himself at a nine year old girl and her parent.

Police say Wooten could be connected to other indecent exposures if you have any information call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC in the area.
