CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Officers at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center are asking for the public's help in locating an inmate who escaped Friday night.

J. Reuben Long officials said Jeremy Jaquan Griffin, 24, of Conway somehow escaped from a fenced area adjacent to the laundry room of the Minimum Security Building. Officers discovered him missing around 9:50 p.m.

Griffin had been booked Thursday and was serving a 90-day sentence for shoplifting.

He was also working in the laundry room at the time of his escape.

Griffin is described as a black male standing 6' and weighing 210 pounds. He has two tattoos on his forearms and are described as follows:

  • Tattoo on right forearm of the name "Jayden"
  • Tattoo on left forearm of the name "Tiyanan"
  • Griffin's last known address is in the 2500 block of Oak Street in Conway.

As of 8 p.m., jail officials said Griffin has not been located. Horry County Police were dispatched with bloodhounds during the overnight hours to search for Griffin.
