Group Arrested in String of Larcenies

Lancaster, SC – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has arrested the following group of individuals in connection with a string of larcenies and burglaries that have occurred since late June. On 07-18-2011 the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 2020 Hanging Rock Rd, Heath Springs after the investigation of several larcenies that had occurred in the area led them to that residence. During the execution of that search warrant investigators recovered several thousand dollars worth of stolen property. The recovery of the property and execution of the search led to the following charges.

Jerry D. Catoe (W/M 32 YOA) of 2547 Beckham Ln., Lancaster, Justin K. Sampley (W/M 18 YOA) of 2020 Hanging Rock Rd., Heath Springs, and Chelsey Todd (W/M 17 YOA) of 1675 Summit Ave, Lancaster, SC have been arrested and charged with Petit Larceny in connection with the theft of a dirt bike from a residence on Baysprings Rd. within Lancaster County on 07/18/2011.

Catoe, Sampley, and Todd were also arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering an Automobile, Grand Larceny, and Petit Larceny in connection with a two thefts that occurred at a Hoke Rd. residence on 07/18/11.

Angela H. Moree (W/F 34 YOA) of 2020 Hanging Rock Rd. Heath Springs has been arrested and charged with Forgery in for attempting to cash a stolen check from a larceny that occurred on Hanging Rock Rd, Heath Springs. Moree is Justin Sampley’s mother.

Jerry Catoe has also been arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen goods greater than $10,000 and a Property offense 3rd or subsequent offensive in connection with a vehicle that was stolen from Bessemer City, NC and recovered during the execution of the search warrant at 2020 Hanging Rock Rd. Catoe was already waiting trial and out on bond forhis involvement in a Burglary in January, 2011. He was charged with receiving stolen goods in that incident.

Investigators have also charged Dennis Brewer Jr. (W/M 35 YOA) of 2020 Hanging Rock Rd. with 2 counts Receiving Stolen Goods in connection with larcenies that occurred on Baysprings Rd. and Hanging Rock Rd. Brewer is the brother of Angela Moree. Brewer has not yet been arrested.

Jerry Catoe and Justin Sampley remain incarcerated at the Lancaster County Detention Center. Angela Moree and Chelsey Todd were released on bond.

The investigation will continue and more charges may be sought as more information and evidence is discovered. Sheriff Faile said, “The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work aggressively to remove these types of individuals from our community. Excellent communication, coordination, and hard work by our officers were critical elements in apprehending these offenders. Job well done.”
