Deputies: Man Beaten with Pistol at Party
Tuesday, July 5, 2011

Richland County, SC (WLTX) -- Deputies are investigating a beating at an Independence Day party that left one man in the hospital, and two others sought by authorities.

Investigators with the Richland County Sheriff's Department say a man was beaten with his own pistol at a party near the 1800 block of St. Michaels Road, in St. Andrews community, after 11 p.m. Monday.

Deputies say people were shooting fireworks at a party, when two men, who were not invited, approached the celebration.

Investigators say the victim approached the suspects armed with a pistol. That's when deputies say the suspects took the gun from the victim and beat him with it.

The victim was taken to Palmetto Health Richland where he was treated for his injuries.

Deputies are searching for the two men they say beat the victim. If you can help them find the suspects, you are urged to call CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at 1-888-CRIME-SC or text a tip to "CRIMES" beginning with the term "TIPSC."
