Deputies find 11 barrels of moonshine
Saturday, July 30, 2011

ORANGEBURG, SC - Orangeburg County Investigators say they discovered an illegal liquor distillery in Holly Hill Wednesday morning.

Investigators say they received a complaint about an illegal liquor distillery off Catamount Road in Holly Hill.

When investigators arrived to the location they discovered 11 barrels in a field that was unattended.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said, “We have not been able to identify the owner of this still but we want that individual to know the still is destroyed and your operation is shut down.”

Just a month ago, Orangeburg County deputies stumbled upon another illegal liquor distillery while searching for a murder suspect in a wooded area of Jaques Lane.

Deputies still have not been able to locate the owner of that illegal liquor distillery either.
