Deputies arrest murder suspect who was out on bond
Friday, July 22, 2011

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Midlands authorities on Thursday arrested a 22-year-old murder suspect who had been out on bond for half a dozen violent and drug-related crimes.

Richland and Lexington county deputies along with State Law Enforcement Division agents arrested Wayne Lamar Mobley without incident around 11:00 a.m. at the Delta Motel on Augusta Highway in West Columbia, according to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott.

Deputies say Mobley, who goes by the nickname "Chicken Wing," shot and killed Bobby Edwards, Jr. on April 11 at a house on Winterwood Road. Authorities said a Crimestoppers tip led them to Mobley.

Lott said Mobley had been out on bond since September 2010 for two counts of murder, two counts of armed robbery and two counts of trafficking cocaine.

Mobley was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Lott thanked the citizens who helped law enforcement by calling the Crimestoppers hotline with tips.
