Cashier's bill for $400 worth of stuff? 20 cents!
Thursday, July 7, 2011

ROCK HILL, SC (AP) - A former Kmart cashier in Rock Hill has been ordered to spend a day in jail after authorities say she illegally used coupons to get about $400 in merchandise for 20 cents.

Police told The Herald of Rock Hill that the 17-year-old acted as her own cashier in May, ringing up $395 in merchandise, then using coupons that weren't for items she bought to bring her bill down to 20 cents.

The teen was convicted in municipal court of breach of trust and sentenced to one day in jail and to pay restitution.
