Bloodhounds called out for holdup suspect
Friday, July 1, 2011

AIKEN, SC - A Thursday afternoon holdup at an Edgefield Highway check-cashing business kept law enforcement officers outdoors searching for much of the afternoon, attempting to locate the woman who robbed the business.

About 12:15 p.m., a black woman dressed in all black entered the TitleMax on Edgefield Highway and demanded money from a store employee.

Aiken County Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. Charles Barranco said the woman was armed with a revolver.

"She took an amount of cash and left on foot," he said.

There were no injuries reported.

Deputies responded to the holdup and immediately searched for the armed woman.

The bloodhound team was notified.

The team members tracked around the business and searched a neighborhood directly behind it, but no arrests were made, Barranco said.

Anyone with information about this subject is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff's Office at (800) 922-9709. Individuals also should call CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at (888) CRIME-SC. Callers can remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of between $50 and $1,000.
