Traffic Safety Checkpoint conducted‏

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC - Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced that the Sheriff’s Department and South Carolina Highway Patrol will be conducting a traffic safety checkpoint in the 9400 Block of Wilson Boulevard on June 9, 2011 around 10:00 PM.

The Sheriff stated that the checkpoint is designed to change driver’s behavior’s and reduce traffic collisions and fatalities in our communities – making everyone be a defensive driver, to wear their seatbelts and to slow down. The Sheriff added that the traffic safety checkpoint is an effort to reduce speeding in the area and reduce crime – due to an increase in car break-ins and burglaries in the area.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department’s Traffic Safety Unit can provide education and awareness to communities, church groups and businesses; in addition to conducting traffic safety checkpoints and working our roadways to make our communities safer for our children.
