Police investigating Lancaster homicide
Tuesday, June 28, 2011

LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) - Police are investigating a homicide in Lancaster.

Officers found 28-year-old Montinyo Stevens shot to death early Sunday inside a house on Harris Street.

Just before Stevens was found, another man showed up at the hospital saying he'd been shot.

Police identified the man as Demarcus Davis.

Investigators believe the two incidents are related, but so far no one has been arrested.

Neighbor, Richard Dabbs had no clue a shooting happened around the corner from his home Sunday morning, until he went out side to the mail box

"The cop was walking down the road like he was looking for something and he found it (the gun) right here," said Dabbs pointing to an area in his front yard.

Police say the two shootings are connected but wont say how.

Dabbs says police told him Stevens and Davis had an argument at a bar and Davis followed Stevens home.

The State Law Enforcement Division is now handling the investigation.

Dabbs says he's lived in Lancaster for 20 years and it's not unusual to hear a gun shot in the distance every now and then even with the Lancaster police station just three blocks away.

"Every body's shook up about it. It was too close for comfort," said Dabbs.
