Deputies looking for "good Samaritan" who stole 79-year-old's purse

Deputies are looking for a 'not-so-good Samaritan' who stole a 79-year-old woman's purse after helping her retrieve her car from the a hospital parking lot.

According to an incident report, the woman called law enforcement after realizing that her purse was missing from her car.

The victim said as she was leaving the Orangeburg Regional Medical Center around 9:00 a.m. Monday morning, a man approached her to see if she needed help fetching her car. The victim says she obliged and gave the man her keys.

A short time later, according to the report, the man showed up with her car at the main entrance. The man left and the victim noticed that her purse was missing.

Hospital security found the purse near the same day surgery entrance, but the the victim told deputies that $980 was missing.

The report describes the unidentified man as being 20-30 years old, standing about 5'10", weighing about 220 pounds and wearing a white shirt with dark shorts.
