Citations issued, machines seized at Santee lounge
Wednesday, June 29, 2011

SANTEE, SC - Police issued beer and liquor citations and confiscated four allegedly illegal poker machines during an undercover sting operation.

An Orangeburg woman was cited for an alleged Sunday alcohol sale violation at LT's Restaurant & Lounge on Old Number Six Highway while the lounge owner, Kenneth Pifer, was cited for allegedly selling liquor and beer after hours, Santee Police Chief Dennis "Bing" Jones said.

"For the last couple of months we have been having a huge crowd out there on Sunday night and we received some complaints," Jones said.

The charges are considered misdemeanors.

Pifer could not be reached for comment.

The Santee Police Department, Elloree Police Department, the State Law Enforcement Division and the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office participated in the alcohol enforcement check.

The lounge owner said he was unaware the machines were illegal, the report said. The machines were taken into the custody of the Santee PD.

The machines are valued at $8,000. There was about $30 total in the four machines.
