Aiken police: Wallet thief caught on surveillance camera
Wednesday, June 22, 2011

AIKEN, SC (WIS) - Aiken police are asking for the public's help identifying a man who stole a woman's wallet earlier this month.

Officer Aaron Dowdy said the woman was shopping at a grocery store on June 11 when someone stole her wallet out of her purse. Shortly after the wallet was stolen, Dowdy said the victim's debit card was used at Moe's Discount Tobacco Store on Beaufort Street.

Surveillance photos show the person using the card was a thin-framed man in his early to mid-20s who was wearing glasses. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Crimestoppers of the Midlands at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
