Teenager dead, another man injured in apartment shooting
Thursday, May 19, 2011

SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Authorities in Sumter County have identified the victims of Monday evening's fatal shooting in an apartment complex near Wedgefield.

Sheriff Anthony Dennis said the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Monday at the South Forge Apartments off Highway 261. Dennis said three men were sitting in a parked car at the complex when an unknown person in another vehicle shot at them and drove off.

Raphael Gunter, 17, and Kyron Gilmore, 29, were taken to the hospital, according to Dennis, but Gilmore was pronounced dead on arrival. Gilmore was treated for a gunshot wound to the upper arm and released.

The driver, 18-year-old Kadeem Robinson, was uninjured.

Right now there is no description of the suspect or the vehicle, but deputies are still interviewing witnesses.

The sheriff says they believe the shooting may have been drug related. Deputies recovered marijuana at the scene.
